Summary/Abstract: The blood libel and anti-Semitism are analyzed as normative interpersonal and interpersonal structures that validate and facilitate participation in Evil. Both are seen as having similarities with defense mechanisms: once triggered they function reflexively, and distort reality. The blood libel trial of Tisza Eszlar, Hungary, 1882 is used as a representative example.
