Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study the historical and linguistic evolution of a minority language, the arbëresh, before getting to the analysis of the influence that this language has on the construction of one of Carmine Abate’s novels, Il ballo tondo,the one of the issue of language and of the language registers’ mixture, in short multilingualism as main object of the novel.
