Selected tools of lean manufacturingin theory and practice

Summary/Abstract: Lean manufacturing is defined as a management philosophy, according to which a company strives to use its labor and machinery resources in the optimal way. The activities are aimed for the continuous elimination of waste. In addition, this method of management also takes into account the following: keeping inventories at a minimum level, delivering materials depending on demand and on the basis of Kanban, highly organizing and visualizing workplaces on the basis of 5S, minimizing the downtime of machines during the changeover. In the article, some of the tools of lean manufacturing have been described, such as: Just in time method, Kanban method, kaizen costing (based on the research literature) and 5S method, Problem Solving Program and Workers Ideas Program (practical solutions).
