Summary/Abstract: In the article the communication between the interviewer and the informant is observed as a fruitful opportunity for the informant to rearrange his life in a narrative, to organize and reconsider his memories and his past experience, to outline himself the image of his identity. In corroboration of this observation there are analyzed two autobiographic narratives, united by the common topic of the crucial role that religious faith has in the behaviour and in the outlooks of people. The story of Kamenka Genova reveals her devotion to God as a balance between her internal intention and the constraint caused by the numerous misfortunes which have befallen upon her in her life. Her incessant care for keeping her faith vivid; the acts of expressing religious faith such as: the bishop’s cutting of her hair as a religious act, her regular visits to the church and the service that she performs there, the pilgrimage – all these acts are perceived by her as a compensation for her inordinate troubles in the past, as a moral support for herself and for her children. The autobiographic narrative of Slavcho Kisyov presents another type of religious faith. Having graduated two higher schools, holding high posts, and at present being a secretary of the Bachkovo monastery, he lives with the feeling that he is an unrealized person and he has not succeeded in accomplishing any of his primary plans and dreams. Nevertheless in his story he does not complain, neither blames some other person; his effort is pointed to meeting the difficulties and the obstacles he encounters as a form of probation sent to him by the Lord, as a verification of his steadiness and faith.
