Analysis of Silesia inhabitants propensity to bear the costs of limiting natural resources exploitation

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents analysis of a survey conducted in Silesia. The survey concerned preferences on bearing the costs of limiting natural resources usage. It demonstrates, that respondents rather accept such costs. For that reasons delays in environmental policy strengthening can be attributed to lack of incorporation of voters’ preferences in the policy of the government. Most frequently accepted form of bearing these costs are duties imposed on households. The less preferable form is the increase of prices. Accepted form and scale of costs depends on the level of respondent’s income. Thus it is recommended to introduce diverse instruments for the natural environment protection addressed to different groups.
