Summary/Abstract: There is a fine line between “concrete” and “abstract” from a linguistic point of view in terms of use of certain nouns that can be seen as one or the other, depending on the context in which they are used. The noun “monster” can be more challenging in this respect because of its diversity of referents. The present paper explores various contexts in which the noun "monster" appears, in an attempt to establish if it is a concrete noun or an abstract noun by connecting it to its referent in various contexts.
