Summary/Abstract: In his academic writings, Pranas Dovydaitis primarily deals with epistemological and historical problems of religion. He refutes Pan-Babylonian theories and underlines the historicity of Jesus' resurrection and legacy. His approach to faith and reason is close to that of the encyclical letter of John Paul II Fides et Ratio. His epistemology develops the themes of St Augustine. Dovydaitis is critical of the anti-metaphysical trends of modern philosophy, and turns his own thoughts towards all-embracing theistic metaphysics of being.
