Men of "Generation 20th"

Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the phenomenon "Age group 20", which was revealed by a students expedition in the village Teshovo, Gotse Delchev region in 1995. It turned out that the men born in the pastwar year 1920 have left strong traces in the social life of this village, creating their own behavior based of community initiatives, vocational training and abstinence from using alcohol drinks. This new phenomenon has not been reported by youth researchers in the middle of the thirties, who support the opinion that the territory of the youth culture was only the town. By analysing some autobiographical texts from that time the author tries to penetrate in the world of the future plans of the village youth in the end of the 30-s. She discusses the question of the reliability of those autobiographical texts as sources for objective information for the process of modernisation of the Balkan villages, showing the modernisational potential of the new generation on the edge of the World War II.
