Summary/Abstract: Article describes social and political activity of Marek Edelman in the years 1944–1949, when was born the legend of him as a guardian memory of graves killed Jews (including members of the youth organization affi liated with the Bund – Cukunft) in the ghettos and camps during World War II, shuttered his achievements on the political ground. The purpose of article is to fi ll the gap in described many times cards from the Marek’s life. I tried to emphasize here that Edelman not only served as a former commander of the Jewish Fighting Organization, but mainly continued his political work in the ranks of the Cukunft. He was active socially among the Jewish community trying to help everyone, regardless of the political options. He was one of those who took part in an attempt to reactivate the youth organization Cukunft and rebuild its structures before 1939. He came to the Central Committee Cukunft, co-organized camps for children and youth, and represented the interests of the youth on national conventions and conferences socialist organizations outside the Poland. His own activity fi nished after the submission of self-criticism by the Bund (1948), dissolution of party (1949) and joining many of the Jewish socialists to the Polish United Workers’ Party, which was inconsistent with his ideas.
