Summary/Abstract: NATO, which maintained a constitutional structure to the Turkish-American military relations, has undergone an outstanding transformation process after the Cold War. Because of the changing security nature “conflict prevention and crisis management” and “fight against international terrorism” turned to be the treaty’s main function, and the number of the members increased from 16 to 26. Though Turkey had some reservations about the issue of the transition and enlargement of NATO, one of the high-ranking priorities of American foreign policy, it gave active support to the process. This article aims to examine both the transition process and its reflections to Turkish-American military relations.
