The Political Situation In Albania

Summary/Abstract: During the second half of 1943, in political and military terms, the Italian occupation forces in Albania were going through a general crisis. The crisis had also involved the social and political classes in Albania. The increased resistance to the occupation forces made the latter intensify the violence against Albanians as the only means to subdue them. The confrontation between Albanians and the occupying army had brought Albanians together fighting in an anti-Italian war front. In this context, the political forces of the Albanian resistance were trying to collaborate in order to fulfill their primary goal, the liberation of the country. Although there were such favorable circumstances for an organized war against the invader, the political situation took another direction that undermined the Albanians' union around one singe goal, namely the liberation of the country.
