Summary/Abstract: M. Tirta (1935), born at Orosh of Mirditë, is one of the most well known ethnologists today. This paper is written on 70-ieth anniversary of his birth. Mirdita is the zone where he has carried out for a long time his linguistic, historical and archaeological, folkloric and especially ethnological researches. Mirdita at the same time has been the centre of sources and explications of a series of ethno-historical and ethno-psychological occurrences and phenomena of heritage of traditional culture in national and international dimensions. The central place take today the books: Mirdita – knowing of birthplace (with co-authors, 2000) and Ethnology of Mirdita (manuscript, not published), one of model projects for ethnological studies in dimensions of our ethno-graphic provinces. Widening the circle of his studies in terrain, he conducts researches in other provinces of ethnographic Albania (Malësia e Gjakovës=Gjakova Highland, Dukagjini Plain, Tetova Highland, the Vardar Valley, the Great Highland, Mat, Labëria, Tomorrica, ethno-graphical provinces in Greece etc.). He is the author of great syntheses Ethnology of the Albanians and Mythology among the Albanians. The work Migrations of the Albanians, which includes the first part of XX century, is also the first part of the project Internal Migration Movements of Albanian Population (1945-1985), which has been expecting for many years to be published. In the three volumes Mytho-logy among the Albanians, Ethnology of the Albanians and Migrations of the Albanians, the author has invested the method of his many year’s pedagogic experience and recent data collected by this diligent resear-cher in terrain and in libraries. In these works, as well as in hundreds of published studies until now, the author has proved, besides others that Albanian ethnology has its own unbroken historical continuity, since antiquity until nowadays. In the work General Ethnology, he has also transmitted (passed) to the reader and his descendants all his knowledge and theoretical and material experience from many decades in the field of ethnology. Doing researches in libraries, with his results and achievements of knowledge in historical development of Albanian ethnology, Professor Mark has brought to Albanian science that what many national and foreign scholars have tried, but they could not have done (succeeded) these last two centuries. Professor Mark Tirta in fact would become part of developments of universal ethnology by his taking part in inter-national scientific conferences and his engagement in joint inter-academic projects.
