Short Description

The “Gjurmime Albanologjike” is an annual scientific journal of the Institute of Albanology located in Prishtina, Kosovo. This institute operates as an independent public research entity with its activities divided across five specialized departments: Linguistics, Literature, Folklore, History, and Ethnology. Its primary focus is on investigating Albanian culture, both through fieldwork and archival research, culminating in the publication of scientific findings and analyses.

The journal was initially launched in 1968, adopting an annual publication format. By 1971, it expanded to include three distinct series:

1. Philological Sciences Series;

 2. Folklore and Ethnology Series; and

 3. Historical Sciences Series.

To date, there have been 53 issues published for each series. The articles within these journals are predominantly written in Albanian, with abstracts available in English and occasionally in French. Notably, from 1984 to 1987, selected papers from “Gjurmime Albanologjike” were also published in French as “Recherches Albanologiques.” Furthermore, in 2015, an edition titled “Albanological Researches” was released in English, featuring selected works from the three series.

Each series within the journal is overseen by a distinct editorial board, which is organized according to the specific field of study. These boards are comprised of both local and international experts, ensuring a broad and inclusive representation of scholarly perspectives.
