Summary/Abstract: The present study is devoted to a subject that keeps getting more and more attention in the structures of interpersonal relationships and between human communities. The author presents succinctly some doctrinal definitions of the mediation process in order to highlight the general features of this alternative dispute resolution. The gravity centre of the paper is the presentation of some aspects of mediation in the field of intellectual property rights litigation; also the paper reviews the types of mediation used by the World Intellectual Property Organization Centre for Arbitration and Mediation and also the mediation rules applied by this Centre. Finally, the author allocates space for the presentation of some cases in the area of intellectual property disputes resolved by WIPO through mediation procedure and presents the disputes concerning intellectual property rights protected by the national legislation that can be resolved through mediation. The study is aimed for the specialists in intellectual property law, and other beneficiaries, rights holders of intellectual property, that are invited to deepen, develop and implement this alternative means of resolving the disputes.
