Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the gradual transformation of the Western Balkan region from the war zone to the region seriously committed to European integrations. The author underline the fact that after the conflict (1991-1995) came a post conflict period of consolidation and stabilization in the region(from 1996). Since the beginning of this decade the effort of all countries of the region to speed up the process of integration into the European Union is evident. With this in mind, the authors point out the development of different multilateral channels of cooperation in the South East Europe, as well as its toughened compatibility and relation with the process of Euro integrations. Special attention is drawn to the bilateral relations between the countries of the Western Balkans, particularly in light of the many difficulties connected tied to the armed conflicts during the nineties. Other factors impeding the efforts of improving the bilateral relations according to the authors are also numerous internal problems of the countries in question.
