Summary/Abstract: In March of 1968 the students in Opole participated in all-Polish protest provoked by the communist authorities that, in january of that year, forbade the further arrangements of theatre play entitled „Dziady“ directed by Kazimierz Dejmek. The protrests were not organised only in the local academical centre. The students’ action got the positive output in many different social communities of Opole as a region, especially among young learners and young workers. It concerned not only the immigrants, but also Silesian autochtons. There were many different signs of supporting the students who protested, such leaflet actions, painting the inscriptions with resistance slogans, etc. However, the activities were not of mass character. In an obvious way, they contradicted the argument of propaganda concerning a common (supposedly) support of society given to the communist authorities. A big number of people symphatised with the students was victimised in many ways. At least in ten cases the trials ended up with the verdict of guilty. The symptoms of support for protesting students did not have a mass character. As well as the abovementioned, they negated the the argument of propaganda concerning a common (supposedly) support of society given to the communist authorities. Those spectacular events happened in March of 1968 can be perceived as a very important stage in bringing the Solidarity movement to existence in 1980.
