Summary/Abstract: The present article covers selected issues concerning the current transformations in the operations of Destination Management Organizations (DMO) as well as forecasts referring to the directions of their further functioning. First those changes are indicated which have been observed in the recent years and decades. It is evident that the current orientation of these organizations as typically marketing ones has been transformed in the recent years into one of an entity with a comprehensive approach in the area of tourism management. Next, the foreseen directions of subsequent changes and transformations in the operations of typical Destination Management Organizations were indicated. The deliberations presented in this article are particularly important for the Polish structures including local and regional tourism organizations. Some of them are now even trying to introduce a number of new solutions (including those in the area of information technologies).
