Summary/Abstract: The possible strategic options within the framework of development strategies can be divided into three basic groups and in each of these groups detailed strategies can be distinguished. Development strategies consist in an intense, internal growth (market penetration, market growth, product improvement), integration (progressive vertical, backward vertical and horizontal) and diversification (concentric, horizontal and conglomeric). The hereby article attempts to analyze the development strategies implemented by the international hotel systems concentrating on the first two groups of strategies – intense, internal development and integration. Several largest hotel systems were selected for the study as the source of innovation in the contemporary hospitality business by indicating methods as the result of which the potential, sales and market share keep increasing and the image is strengthened.
