The National Image of the World and the National Mentality – the Case of Belarus

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with an analysis of concepts of the national image of the world and the national mentality. The analysis serves as a theoretical basis for a subsequent definition of the specific factors that influence Belarusian mentality and their potential impact on it. The borderline position of the ethnical Belarusian territory belongs among the most important factors from which different particularities (e.g. religious and geopolitical) emerge. The factors affected the national mentality of Belarusian nation in the period of its formation and have been affecting it up to the present time.
