Summary/Abstract: In March 2010, a 33-year-old registered sex offender was convicted of the rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl. The murderer had used a fake photograph to present himself on Facebook as a handsome young teenager. He met his victim there and befriended her. An online romance developed and he then persuaded her to meet him in real life. On the day of the arranged meeting, he sent the girl a text message saying that his father would pick her up in his car. Of course this was a lie. Her body was found in a field the next day.
