Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present basic problems of linguistic games' transfer. The analysis was based on the material excerpted from Ulysses by James Joyce. The words used in the description fulfill two basic criteria: neologism and linguistic game pattern in the word structure. Special attention was drawn to neologisms built as a game with a phonic form strategy. Speech sound and phonetic instrumentalization, cacophony and glossolalia seem crucial in this area. The research method is an analysis of semantic-syntactic lexemes and hyperonymic definition. The analysis of the material shows that the source of the major translatorial difficulties is the relative untransferability of certain linguistic units, namely: idioms, phrases, onomatopoeia, neologisms originated from nonstandard derivation.
