Summary/Abstract: Type of activities undertaken to improve the organization in the supervision of nonconforming product indicates its maturity in the field of social responsibility. The aim of the research was to identificate causes and asses the effectiveness of withdrawal of nonconforming products and the identification of actions used by companies to test the effectiveness of the traceability system. The study was conducted among meat processing plants by using the survey method. The results show that companies have difficulties connected with the withdrawal of products from the market, which is evidenced by the number of withdrawal products in relation to the total number of nonconformities. Using concrete activities to improve the effectiveness of the traceability system, such as, for example, the simulation of withdrawal, “forward” and “backward”traceability tests, the company demonstrates its maturity and social responsibility, because the company contributes to the reduction or to the prevention of risk of harmful influence on health and human lives.
