Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of the role of social networks in marketing communications used by local governments. In today’s information society governments must also reach the medium of the Internet. They also need to use not only of unilateral communication, that is, for example, web site, but the use of multilateral communication. The recipient of communication, which is the online community has become increasingly important, because Internet users meet the diverse needs of communication and information.
