Summary/Abstract: The contribution critically reacts to some observations by Pavol Winczer about the end of the Institute of World Literature and Languages SAS and its successor, the Institute of Literary Studies SAS. It focuses, among others, on the story of the destroyed Dictionary of Slovak Literature from 1979 and other self-willed acts of communist censorship, which had a destructive effect on the work of scholars. Based on relevant documents and testimonies from the 1970s to 1990s, it is a contribution to the history of these institutions.
