To the Study of the Culturological Knowledge of the Nineteenth Century: The Kondika [Codice] of the Municipality of Koprivshtitsa 1871–1875

Summary/Abstract: “The kondika of the Municipality of Koprivshtitsa” is an imposing example of the special type of business style of writing from the second half of the Nineteenth Century, which is also represented by the municipal and the school kondikas. The annals of the municipality aldermen in Koprivshtitsa are a document with unquestionable importance as a written source for the local culture. It implies basic content and formal features, typical for the stylistics of the clerks of the period. At the same time, the Kondika under consideration is of a specific pattern. In the context of other similar books related to the activities of the municipality, such as the receipts and expense-books for example, the Kondica stands out with its diverse content, which goes far beyond the social functions of the “genre” and deserves separate anthropological reading.
