Summary/Abstract: Despite the fact that the ownership transformations of the state-owned enterprises constituted an element of the system transformation in Poland at the end of 1980s, until Poland's accession to the European Union individual governments did not undertake actions aiming at the privatization of Stocznia Gdynia SA This resulted from the lack of the governments' uniform privatization concept in relation to the enterprise. Only in 2005, at the European Union's order, Polish government elaborated the strategy for shipyard sector covering years 2006—2010. Thereby, it may be stated that the actions of the Polish government aimed at the privatization of Stocznia Gdynia SA gained speed. The goal of this article is to present actions of the government of Donald Tusk, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the position of the European Commission in scope of the privatization of Stocznia Gdynia SA It includes an attempt to define causes and elaborate circumstances of its liquidation.
