Summary/Abstract: Civil society in Romania didn’t evolved too smooth over time. It was born in the mid-nineteenth century due to the influences from the educationreceived by young Romanian intellectuals in Western Europe. Civil society has experienced a period of prosperity in the interwar period but afterwards it had greatly suffered during the communist regime. Its fall brought with it a revival of the civil society and a development influenced by the spreading of mass media and new technology.
