Summary/Abstract: The increased role of the internationalization of the economy in recent decades implied an active role of the state in supporting the process of internationalization of domestic enterprises. Due to the numerous barriers identified particularly in the SME sector for the wider expansion into foreign markets, public support in this area is currently considered as an important element of a broader strategy for economic development of many countries. As a result, the main aim of this article is to attempt to characterize the activities of regional Export Promotion Agencies (EPAs) operating in all Polish voivodeships and the empirical comparison of their export support services to the offer of similar institutions in selected countries. The study used an analysis of primary sources, observation and comparative method. The study indicates that the Polish EPAs correspond with global trends concerning the public support for internationalization, but their functionality is still very limited compared to the analyzed foreign institutions.
