Eco-innovation as a new paradigm in European and regional strategic documents

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to analyze the strategic development documents of the European Union from the perspective of eco-innovation, as one of the key directions of modernization of economies and societies. The aim of the study was also an analysis of the understanding and the level of eco-innovation in the region. The study analyzes (using desk research method) issues concerning the presence of the concept of eco-innovation in European and regional strategy documents. Own research using survey methods was done in 2013 and it included deliberately chosen small and medium-sized enterprises, which in the years 2005 to 2013 benefited from EU funds. The research included 150 respondents. The results are consistent with the negative assessment of the European eco-innovation on Polish economy.
