Experience of selected Polish regions in the identification and implementation of smart specialisations

Summary/Abstract: In the context of smart specializations (SS) as a new instrument of the EU cohesion policy regions are to identify areas of specializations in which they want to excel and build its competitiveness. The aim of the paper is to provide the experience of region of Eastern Poland in the identification and implementation of smart specializations. In the paper a theoretical background of smart specialisations and the place of SS in strategic documents in Poland are discussed, followed by the advancement of 5 regions of Eastern Poland in the selection and implementation of SS.
