Summary/Abstract: The article emphasises the effects and significance of the baptism of Mieszko I in 966 in the history of Poland. The arrival of Christianity opened Poland to the legacy of culture and theological thought of the Western world. In consequence, it resulted, not only, in the perception of the western spiritual and intellectual tradition, but triggered the development of Poland’s theological thought. Thus, Poland has its own notable contribution to the creation and distribution of that spiritual legacy for the sake of both the Church and Europe.
