Summary/Abstract: The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, an Indian novelist, has been transformed in a movie by the director Mira Nair, also, of Indian descent. The paper focuses on analyzing such issues as cultural and racial representation, gender diversity and otherness in the American society from the point of view of these two Indian feminine artists living in the USA. It will compare their way of emphasizing the feelings of migrants through words and images.
