Summary/Abstract: The concern of the present paper is the analysis of Don Juan’s socalled ‘elegance’, which, at a certain point, becomes misleading and is often regarded in criticism as a sign of the hero’s emancipation. If Juan seems to progress in questions of clothing, discourse, gestures, manners and skills, i.e. in everything that has to do with the exterior side of dandyism in particular and Don Juanism occasionally – we will pursue him during his most fashionable moments to demonstrate that evolution is halted at the level of form.
