Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to describe the support that is offered to families with many children by certain local governments in Poland. The Large Family Card entitles large families to free or reduced fare travel on public transport and to discounts on entrance fees to sports facilities, monuments and other places of interest in the city. Yet how the programme is implemented, the scope of the offer and the level of support vary between Polish cities, and this is not always the result of a fair analysis of the situation of families in a given city. Also, the ways the programmes are created and their initiators vary considerably, which affects how the programme is evaluated by its participants. The paper presents a review of selected programmes and an analysis of the research conducted among the programme's participants and implementers. The project was funded by the National Science Centre, allocated on the basis of Decision No DEC-2012/05/N/HS4/00219
