Institutional Quality and its relation to “the paradox of plenty” phenomenon

Summary/Abstract: The article constitutes an attempt to answer the question whether the institutional determinants of country development, especially the Institutional Quality, can counteract the phenomenon of the paradox of plenty” in the developing countries. The answer is negative: the results of the analysis affirm that poor Institutional Quality has a detrimental impact on the economic growth. The results constitute a premise for acknowledging the institutional determinants as those responsible for the occurrence of ineffectiveness in the natural resources management, which prevents these economies from the effective counteraction against “the paradox of plenty”.
