Summary/Abstract: Models of the third sector reflect the characteristic for a given society “traditions of relations between the state and society and between the third sector and the entire econom”y. The observation and analysis of the constantly developing processes of regional integration and globalization indicate that they strongly affect democracy. This influence is mainly caused by the emergence of new global entities, which are undoubtedly international corporations. The rise of them caused a relative decline in the role of states. These processes also lead to the weakening of democracy mechanisms, both locally and globally. The aim of the article is: 1) indication that new global entities can also include NGOs, 2) examination of the strength and importance of the so-called legitimacy of democratic non-governmental organizations, 3) defining the role of non-governmental organizations in building democratic order in internal and international relations.
