Summary/Abstract: In recent years Central and Eastern Europe has become an important location for services centres, not only from the European perspective, but also from the global one. There has been significant growth in the participation of this region in the global services offshoring market. At the moment, its share is estimated at 8% and it is constantly growing. The region builds its attractiveness primarily around its nearshoring advantages arising from the combination of the availability of skilled labour with strong language skills, low costs, favourable business and stable political environment, well developed infrastructure and geographical and cultural proximity to Western Europe. The main aim of the paper is to outline the current position of CEE countries as destinations for service offshoring activities and to determine potential of the region in the context of a rapidly changing global map of the offshoring services.
