Changes in Poland’s export within the categories of value added

Summary/Abstract: The objective of the article is the analysis of changes within Polish export in the years 1995-2011, assessed by means of a new method of measurement of foreign trade flows based on the concept of value added, which enables decomposing export into national and foreign value added within geographical and sectoral overview. Statistical data (contained in TiVA database), based on value added to gross export reveal, among others, a significant increase of foreign value added share in gross export which, in turn, indicates an increasing participation of Poland in global chains of value and the processes of production fragmentation. Simultaneously, the scale of increase was highly diversified among the various industries.
