Transborder openess of service providers in the divided city of Gubin/Guben

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyse the transborder openness of service providers in the divided city of Gubin/Guben on the Polish-German border. To assess the level of openness of firms to clients from the other side of the border, four transborder categories have been examined (e.g. offers in the language of the neighbour, the possibilities of payment in the neighbour’s currency, the knowledge of the language). The analysis has shown a significant asymmetry in this respect. Whereas in the Polish part of the city the high level of transborder openness was observed, in the German unit the openness was hardly noticed.
