Summary/Abstract: When examining competitiveness of tourism, transport plays an outstanding role. The specific aim of our paper is to review and disclose the context between the touristic performance of localities with spa and thermal bath based on inland accessibility and domestic tourism data. The survey comprises two Hungarian regions, Western Transdanubia, considered as central from the point of view of tourism flow, and the peripheric Southern Transdanubia, thus spatial level consequences can also be drawn. From collected primary data and available secondary data ranking correlation coefficients have been calculated. The former source was an own questionnaire on spa selection preference, and the latter source was settlement data stock of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. Upon evaluation of information in the questionnaire and the ranking correlation of domestic data the relationship between physical approachability, accessibility by road and touristic output of localities was confirmed. Results show that although there is relationship between data on tourism and road traffic, but it can only be shown to a limited extent, because of the indirect contribution of transport to tourism.
