Innovations in urban logistics – sustainable public transport

Summary/Abstract: The major problem of modern cities is traffic congestion. It occurs especially in highly urbanized areas where the demand for traffic infrastructure is higher than its capacity. The experience of big cities in the world shows that in a long run the most successful solution is the sustainable public transport. This article aims at presenting the innovative management approach as well as the innovative solutions to the problem that have been introduced in voivodeship cities in Poland.The solutions are presented not only from the perspective of ecological and social adventages, but also as the source of effective cost reduction and quality improvement at the same time. To illustrate the sustainable public transport policy, Veturilo case is presented.
