Risk and return relation in Polish companies

Summary/Abstract: The essence of the relationship between profit and risk is relatively well described in the literature of the subject. The purpose of the article was to identify relation between risk and returns of Polish enterprises in the period 2002-20012. Research shows that is the relationship between risk and profitability is strongly positive and depends more on adopted indicator of profitability then measure of volatility. Not the presence of Bowman's paradox may be associated with a number of positive conclusions on competitiveness and management level of Polish enterprises at the time of entry into European Union and the subsequent economic crisis
