Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to create a vivid and accurate image of the Wallachian prince, out of several contemporary chronicles, most of which are biased, one way or another. Brâncoveanu emerges from them as a vigorous and complex personality, which accounts for his rich literary legacy, in rhymed chronicles and folklore productions.
