The assessement of vulnerability to economic crisis in EU regions households - spatio-temporal analysis

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is to classify the EU regions regarding their vulnerability to economic crisis. The classification approach, extended by dynamic perspective, was applied in order to carry out the set objective, which allowed for distinguishing the groups of regions presenting similar vulnerability to crisis in terms of the studied characteristics, for following changes in the system of groups and “paths” of regional development and also for the identification of regions characterized by similar trajectories of changes. The approach suggested in the study analyses one of the three regional vulnerability areas to economic crisis phenomena. The vulnerability of NUTS 2 European Union regions in the area of households was assessed – by applying dynamic approach in the classification – based on such characteristics as: income disposable by households in PPS, employees’ salaries and their dynamics in the period 2006-2011.
