Determinants of the supply chain disruption risk

Summary/Abstract: Ensuring undisrupted flow of goods and information is one of the fundamental objectives of supply chain management. The research carried out by Business Continuity Institute (BCI) proved that over 70% of organizations from 35 countries suffered from at least one supply chain disruption in one year. Hence, the author takes on the selection of features and classifications of supply chain disruptions. On one hand the probability of occurrence of disruption can be determined, on the other the effects of its occurance may be estimated − then we can talk about the risk of supply chain disruption. In this article, the results of literature review in the current research in the field of the supply chain disruption are introduced. Finally the paper presents the results of own empirical research on risk factors in supply chains which can increase the risk.
