Logistic aspects of trade flows in the crisis situations of the global economy

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays the continuously growing supply chains create the need for effective and reliable and competitive logistics from the cost, time and quality perspective. It is an obvious and natural need, getting a new meaning, when competing moves from single companies to competing between supply chains or supply chain networks. This paper presents methods and tools for practical assessment of the logistics in the global supply chains in three areas: a) trade and transport corridor, b) transfer of information resources in the corridor, c) reliability and efficiency of partners in the supply chain, specially the participants in the transport and trade corridor. The assessment is focused on the most sensitive points in goods flows: customs processes and procedures, border crossing and phyto-sanitary clearance. Those sensitive points, for many different reasons, become a strategic level risk for efficient and secure goods flows. The proposed methods and tools allow to objectively compare alternatives for logistic and trade corridors in order to choose the best of available options and change the strategy of the given supply chain.
