Summary/Abstract: This article concerns literary representations of Galicia. Wierzejska draws on tools developed in response to the topographical turn to analyse two discourses on the region – Ukrainian and Polish – as exemplified through Jurii Andrukhovycz and Andrzej Stasiuk’s essays. For both writers, narratives of Galicia, understood as a space that is borderland and post-border in one, become a point of departure for reflections on the epistemology and ontology of Polish-Ukrainian borderlands and, more broadly, of Central Europe. One difference, however, is detectable in the works of the two writers – a difference that can be described by drawing on the opposition between the city and the province: Andrukhovycz explores the palimpsestic, heterotopic character of the Galician urban sphere, while Stasiuk concentrates on rather marginal spaces. This difference implies the two writers’ ideologically divergentviews of the regionon both the micro and macro level.
