Financial capability development as the responsible finance instrument counteracting financial exclusion

Summary/Abstract: Financial exclusion is manifested by difficulties encountered in accessing indispensable financial products and services in an adequate form and adjusted to the needs of particular individuals. One of its underlying reasons is the low level of public financial literacy. In many countries diversified inclusion activities are undertaken among which also these focused on financial capability development are conducted. The objective of the hereby paper is an attempt to identify and present the role to be played, in this area, by major stakeholders of responsible finance, i.e. the government and financial institutions.
