Analysis of marginal vertical income Β-convergence in European Union

Summary/Abstract: The author analyzed income convergence in European Union with special emphasis on individual countries contribution to that process. The new concept of marginal vertical income β-convergence was used for that purpose. The paper also deals with the influence of current economic crisis on the speed of income convergence within European Union. The received results show that in the period 2007-2010 the speed of convergence was reduced due to the economic severe shocks. The other conclusion allows to point out countries that had a positive (Estonia, Poland, Slovakia and Italy) and negative (Lithuania, Sweden, Austria, Hungary and Netherlands) influence on the overall income convergence process during last years
