Human capital resources in peripheral regions

Summary/Abstract: The occurrence of substantial disparities in the level of socio-economic development of particular Polish regions leads to the extraction of central and peripheral regions in the spatial structure. Despite measures aimed at eliminating socio-economic inequalities, interregional differences in Poland are not decreasing. The literature emphasizes that among the factors that determine the development of the region an important role is played by human capital. The article presents human capital resources in peripheral regions and elaborates whether the human capital in peripheral regions in Poland can be a causative factor of economic recovery there.
